ALIUS PROJECT EARTH

What is green branding or branding for sustainability? It is about increasing equity through: green shift, social change and healthy living. These practices together build sustainable brands. Building a sustainable business means connecting a sustainable materials economy with programs that support healthy lifestyles and efforts that promote society’s well being thus harmonizing the entire circular cycle to a close loop production. As a result, sustainable brands could result in reinventing the current linear global material’s system that is in crisis.

Creating sustainable brands is a companywide effort that touches stakeholders, strategy and company operations. The efforts need to involve the commitment of suppliers, management, employees, investors, and clients/customers. More than what is being delivered to the end user it is about how it is being done and aligning all practices with the sustainable promise the company is engaging.

It is imperative to connect your brand with a true green sustainable position, as consumers/clients are looking to align their product/service preference with their individual values. BBMG states that “Consumers are rewarding companies that do good things for people and the planet, like manufacturing energy efficient products, promoting consumer health, and safety benefits, delivering fair labor and trade practices, and supporting local businesses and suppliers.” Companies that do not actively pursue a green brand strategy today risk being left behind; and as Daley suggests, “those who do not may even jeopardize their very survival.”

For perspective, in a Gallup poll last year between 80 to 90 percent of Americans said they participated in simple eco-conscious behaviors like recycling and reducing energy usage, while 73 percent bought environmentally beneficial products. Demeritt's research indicates that this activity is "not a fad but a return to the idea of authenticity and comfort on the parts of buyers." However, it is imperative to avoid *Greenwashing.

Real sustainable branding is a smart strategic business move for companies today looking to connect with the evolving values of customers. Truthfulness and transparency are key to engage the connection with consumers/client and touch those deep desires that matter most, while serving the common good for society and the environment. Green branding can safeguard long term brand loyalty as consumers focus not on the “what” technical benefit only but also in the “how”. Sustainability needs to become the driver of businesses to assure long term environmental and social transformation of our planet. We should all become a catalyst of change thus, our project earth service welcomes your business to engage in sustainable branding.

*Greenwashing is a term used to describe the practice of companies disingenuously spinning their products and policies as environmentally friendly, such as by presenting cost cuts as reductions in use of resources.[1] It is a deceptive use of green PR or green marketing . The term green sheen has similarly been used to describe organizations that attempt to show that they are adopting practices beneficial to the environment.[2] (Wikepedia)
